Something special about Rome

Me and my family enjoyed our time in Rome beyond words.  We really feel connected to this amazing city.  So many things make Rome special for us.  Our friends, the sights, its really magical.  Here are a few pictures some of which were taken by our super talented friend, Claudia.  Bella Roma!

Fatherhood Reflections

This post is different from my usually blogs but I thought it would be cool to share a moment I had here in Rome.  So me, Leslie, and our son Alex the Great were taking a walk around Rome and if you have been here you know how hectic traffic can be.  As we were crossing one of the narrow roads a car suddenly started to back up towards us.  I was carrying our son at the moment.  We yelled out for the car to stop and it did before reaching a couple feet from us.  It was funny because right at that moment I saw myself suddenly gaining super natural strength, lifting up my leg and kicking the back of the car, smashing the bumper with the impact of my kick, and watching the car role back.  With the adrenaline rush I felt I literally saw myself doing something impossible so I could protect our son from harm.

As I was thinking about this I said to myself “wow, if I can feel this way as a flawed human, how much more does our perfect heavenly father desire to protect us from physically, emotional, and physical harm.”  And God can do the impossible.  I know this may be a hard area for some who have dealt with hard moments in life, myself included.  But I am confident that God in his perfect knowledge works everything for the good of those that love and follow him.  Hopefully this is helpful for someone so I thought I would share.  Feel free to share any thought you might have.  Thanks for reading.

Food, Food, and more Food :)

Part of experience Rome is indulging in the amazing food and wine here.  Me and Leslie have done exactly that.  Yeah we are on a workout plan and having been getting right but what the heck, we are in ITALY! We have visited countless restaurants and enjoyed so many great conversations and laughs with dear friends from all around the world.  Life is meant to be enjoyed, live it to the fullest!

I remember first traveling to Rome wondering what it would be like to live in a brand new city half way around the world.  As you all know if you have followed my blog, I ended up meeting the most amazing people that I now consider close dear friends and absolutely falling in love with Roma.  I left Rome last year after the birth of my son which has been a huge blessing to my wife and I.  Today we are back in Rome on family vacation and it absolutely amazing to be here again and share the experience I had with my family.  The adventure continues!
